Jon Diven
Texas-born Jon Diven is a Grammy-nominated bassist whose international career spans over four decades. Equally accomplished on double bass and electric bass, he holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where he participated in recordings with Sir James Galway and Wynton Marsalis.
Based in Germany since 1989, Diven has held orchestral positions in St. Gallen and Stuttgart and performed in major musical productions including Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, and the 1999 world premiere of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame in Berlin. He has also toured with Belgian superstar Helmut Lotti and Texas singer-songwriter Robert LaRoche.

Since 2002, Diven has served as Principal Bassist of the Philharmonie Merck, recording six albums and touring more than 30 countries with the orchestra. His extensive recording career also includes more than 30 albums with the Heidelberg Sinfoniker and Mannheimer Mozart Orchestra. In 2011, his orchestral recording work earned a Grammy nomination for Best Orchestral Performance.
Neil Miller
From Long Island NY, Neil Miller is a violist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has been with the viola section since 2016, only a few months after beginning his Masters degree. He holds both a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance, and a Master of Music degree in viola performance from the Eastman School of Music. He was awarded the coveted Performer’s Certificate and was also the recipient of the Robert L. Oppelt Viola Prize which is presented annually to an outstanding violist at Eastman. He has worked with many world-renowned conductors including Karina Canellakis, Andreas Delfs, Fabien Gabel, Andrew Litton, Ken-David Masur, Gemma New, Peter Oundjian, Michael Stern, and David Zinman.

Neil is also a member of the Finger Lakes Opera and Skaneatles Music Festivals held each summer. He spent most summers of his undergraduate studies at the Charles Castleman Quartet Program both in Boulder, CO, and Fredonia, NY. Neil has studied with Shirley Givens, Richard Amoroso, Lynn Blakeslee, Renée Jolles, Kerri Ryan, Roberta Zalkind, and was most recently a viola student of George Taylor.
In 2024, Neil joined the faculty of the Eastman Community Music School (ECMS) teaching viola and chamber music.
In his free time, Neil enjoys baking, hiking, biking, fishing, playing darts, spending time with his cat, Jasper, and learning folk fiddle tunes with his wife, Alyssa.
Christopher Hanulik
Christopher Hanulik joined the LA Phil in 1984 and was appointed Principal Bass in 1987.
He has also served as Principal Bass of the Cleveland Orchestra under Christoph von Dohnanyi. During his tenure in Cleveland, he made numerous recordings, including Histoire du Soldat, conducted by Pierre Boulez for Deutche Grammophon.
Hanulik appears regularly on the LA Phil’s Chamber Music and Green Umbrella series where he has appeared as a featured soloist performing with John Adams conducting. He has also premiered a number of works, including Heartwood, which Samuel Adams specifically composed for him. Hanulik has also appeared as a featured soloist with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In addition, Hanulik has performed with the Miami String Quartet, the Jacques Thibaud String Trio, the Chicago String Quartet, and the Calder Quartet. He has also performed with Gil Shaham, Cho-Liang Lin, Yefim Bronfman, Emanuel Ax, Vladimir Feltsman, and Thomas Adès. Hanulik has performed at the St. Barth Music Festival, Chamber Music Sedona, and La Jolla Summerfest.

Hanulik has served on the faculties of the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Kent/Blossom Summer Music Festival, Pepperdine University, and California State University at Northridge. He has given master classes at The Juilliard School, Indiana University, and the Eastern Music Festival and in Los Angeles at the Colburn School and the University of Southern California. He has also given master classes at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany and at the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts. He is currently on the faculties of the University of California at Los Angeles and the Aspen Music Festival.
Jordan Frazier
Jordan Frazier is Co-Principal Bass of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, with which he has performed worldwide since 1993. He is also a member of the American Symphony Orchestra and American Composers Orchestra, and serves as Principal Bass of the Westchester Philharmonic, Little Orchestra Society, and Carmel Bach Festival Orchestra.
Throughout his distinguished career, Frazier has appeared as guest Principal Bass with the Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and Australian Chamber Orchestra, and has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati Symphonies, and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, among others. A versatile chamber musician, he has collaborated with numerous leading ensembles and string quartets and has also performed and recorded with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.

Frazier’s extensive recording career includes releases for Sony Classical, Nonesuch, Decca/Argo, EMI, Blue Note, Deutsche Grammophon, and other major labels. His recordings include both of Orpheus Chamber Orchestra’s Grammy-winning albums, as well as Emanon with the Wayne Shorter Quartet. He is also a founding member of Gerard Schwarz’s All-Star Orchestra, recording numerous programs for Naxos and PBS.
A native of Cleveland, Frazier studied at Interlochen Arts Academy and the Manhattan School of Music. He has served on the faculty of Mannes College of Music and presented masterclasses at Interlochen, Yale University, Rice University, and the National Orchestral Institute.
Yeou-Cheng Ma
Dr. Yeou–Cheng Ma is an accomplished violinist, violist, educator, physician, and Executive Director of the Children’s Orchestra Society. Born in Paris to Chinese parents, she gave her first public performance at age seven and, as a young musician, performed extensively with her brother, renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma. At age ten, she performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Denver Symphony Orchestra after winning the French National Competition Royaume de la Musique. Her principal violin teachers included her father, Dr. H. T. Ma, Firmin Touche, Koji Toyoda, and Arthur Grumiaux.
Dr. Ma has collaborated with distinguished artists including Yo-Yo Ma, cellist Hai-Ye Ni, violinist Stephanie Chase, and the Lark Quartet. She has appeared at many prominent venues, including Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, the United Nations, the 92nd Street Y, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and has toured throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States with the Dadap-Ma Duo.

A graduate of Radcliffe College and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Ma has devoted her medical career to children with developmental disorders. Her commitment to music education and young people has earned numerous honors, including an honorary doctorate in humanities, the New York Public Advocate Award for leadership and advocacy for Asian American youth, and the Brearley School’s Francis Riker Davis Award for outstanding community service.

Richard Myron
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Richard Myron earned his B.M. degree at the Juilliard School as a contrabass student of Homer Mensch. Awarded the Frederick Zimmermann Memorial Scholarship, he earned one year later his M.M. degree. His many interests have led him to work with such diverse artists as Leonard Bernstein, Gustav Leonhardt, Jordi Savall, William Christie, Japan Schröder, Frans Brüggen, Anner Bylsma, Dizzy Gillespie and Giora Feidman. His studies of Early Music with Albert Fuller led to his activities as an internationally recognized leader in Historic Performance Practice playing contrabass, violone and colascione.
Currently residing in Paris, Mr. Myron was from 1997-2023 professor of contrabass and chamber music in the early music department of the CRR de Paris.

In 1996 Richard created the class of Historic Contrabass and Violone at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. 2024 marks his final year at the CNSMDP where he has also led orchestral, chamber music and dance programs with the students. Roberto Vally
Roberto Vally‘s recording career spans many years, with performances and recordings alongside some of the most respected names in contemporary jazz and R&B, including George Benson, Bob James, David Benoit, Boney James, Randy Crawford, Bobby Caldwell, Christopher Cross, Kirk Whalum, Richard Elliot, Euge Groove, Spyro Gyra and many many others. As a composer, arranger and producer, his work has been featured on numerous recordings and projects.

Marco Panascia
Marco Panascia (pronounced pana-SEE-ah) is an internationally acclaimed Italian-American bassist based in New York City. Renowned for his versatility on acoustic and electric bass, he has performed with jazz greats including Kenny Barron, Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Roy Hargrove, Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Chris Botti, and Gary Burton, and is currently a member of Lea DeLaria’s band.
Panascia has appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, Montreux Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. His Broadway credits include Wicked, The Lion King, and Frozen, and he has performed with Natalie Cole, Patti LaBelle, Brian McKnight, and Il Volo. His work with pianist Eldar Djangirov included the Grammy-nominated album re-imagination.

David Sheets
Kansas native David Sheets began his orchestral career while still a student at the Eastman School of Music and went on to perform with the Saint Louis Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra of London, and other leading ensembles. He joined the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 1996 and later won the position of Associate Principal Bass.

Martin Wind
Martin Wind is an internationally acclaimed bassist, composer, and educator. Born in Flensburg, Germany, he moved to New York in 1996 and earned his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance and Composition from NYU.
A prizewinner in the Thelonious Monk Bass Competition, Martin has performed and recorded with many of the world’s leading artists, including Pat Metheny, Michael and Randy Brecker, John Scofield, Sting, Hank Jones, Toots Thielemans, and Michel Legrand. His extensive recording career includes numerous albums as a leader and co-leader, as well as major motion-picture soundtracks.
A highly respected performer on the international jazz scene, Martin is also a member and founder of the New York Bass Quartet and serves on the faculties of New York University and Hofstra University.
Byung Kook Kwak
Acclaimed as one of the finest violinists of his generation, Byung Kook Kwak enjoys a multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, conductor, and educator.

Arnold E. Schnitzer
Arnold E. Schnitzer became adept at woodworking and tool usage at a young age. While attaining a conservatory degree in music, he began maintaining and building instruments while also working as a professional musician. He ran a busy and successful repair and sales business in the NYC suburbs for 30 plus years. Now living in New Mexico, he concentrates on making of new Basses and Cellos.

Garfield Moore
Garfield Moore is a highly acclaimed soloist and master teacher based on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Recognized for his dynamic performances and “sensitive virtuosity,” he has been appointed Artistic Director of a new concert series at St. John’s Episcopal in Ocean Springs and also serves as an Artist in Residence at the Ohr Museum.

Satoshi Okamoto
Satoshi Okamoto has been a member of the New York Philharmonic since 2003.

Kurt Muroki
Kurt Muroki is a tenured Professor of Music at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and a former Artist-Member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. He began his musical studies on violin before pursuing double bass at The Juilliard School, where he studied with Homer R. Mensch.

Mark Wood
Recording artist, performer, producer, inventor, Emmy award-winning composer, and music educator Mark Wood is the premier electric violinist of his generation, who pioneered and innovated the entire genre.

Wood began his career with a full scholarship to the prestigious Juilliard School in New York and had the privilege of studying under Maestro Leonard Bernstein at the Tanglewood Music Program. He founded Wood Violins, the premier manufacturer of electric violins, violas and cellos worldwide, and he holds the patent for the first-ever self-supporting violin. For over two decades, Mark has devoted his energies to empowering America’s music programs. His groundbreaking music education program Electrify Your Symphony (EYS) celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025. EYS is an immersive workshop and concert series for school music departments that boosts student self-esteem and helps raise much-needed funds. Mark and his team of Artist Mentors visit upwards of 75 schools per year. A genuine family man, Wood runs his operations alongside his wife, business partner, and longtime collaborator Laura Kaye. In addition to EYS, Wood and Kaye run the annual Mark Wood Rock Orchestra Camp and Festival, founded in 2010, as well as The Mark Wood Music Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to supporting music and the arts in America’s underserved communities.
Harvie S
Harvie S, a renowned jazz bassist, is a prominent figure in the realm of contemporary jazz with his distinctive style and virtuosic technique. He was selected as a Jazz Ambassador for the United States, touring throughout Europe and Southeast Asia in this capacity. He has recorded numerous albums as a leader and co-leader, with over 400 recordings as a sideman. He has held a position as a professor of jazz bass and ensembles at the Manhattan School of Music since 1984.
